6 Things I Learned Selling Over 1 Million on Amazon

Are you an Amazon Seller who expected higher sales but ended up feeling demoralized and wondering where you went wrong? Trust me, I've been there.

It's disheartening to see others succeed while you struggle to make a mark. But fear not! In this blog post, I'll share six key things I learned on my Amazon selling journey that can help maximize your sales and boost your Amazon game.

  1. Repricing Software: If you're not using a repricing software, you're setting yourself up for a tough battle on Amazon. Price is the most critical factor in winning the buy box, and repricing software ensures your prices are competitive. While there are many options available, I recommend starting with the free repricer that comes with Seller Central. It may lack advanced features, but it gets the job done without straining your budget.

  2. Ship to FBA: Unless you're dropshipping or have specific circumstances, shipping your products to Amazon's FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) is a no-brainer. The availability and fast shipping times offered by FBA give you a significant advantage over competitors. Customers value quick delivery, and you can even charge a premium for the same product. If you're unsure how to ship to FBA, check out the tutorial video I've linked in the description.

  3. Understand Listing Demand: To make informed decisions, it's crucial to gauge listing demand and expected sales. You must assess the competition on a listing, understand how quickly products sell, and evaluate the overall market climate. Tools like the Jungle Scout Chrome extension and the Online Seller add-on for Google Chrome provide valuable data on expected sales, competition, and price history. Utilize these tools to become a master at judging listings and make better purchasing decisions.

  4. Avoid Competing with Amazon: While not a steadfast rule, it's generally wise to avoid selling on listings where Amazon is a seller. Amazon shares the buy box with third-party sellers only about 20% of the time. If you're competing with Amazon and a few other sellers on a high-demand listing, your share of sales will be significantly reduced. It's essential to manage expectations and be patient when Amazon is a seller on a listing.

  5. Master Customer Service: Your seller metrics and feedback score directly influence your chances of winning the buy box. Providing exceptional customer service is key to maintaining good metrics and feedback. Check out my dedicated video on Amazon customer service for valuable tips and copy-and-paste templates that can be customized for various scenarios. Keeping customers happy and receiving positive feedback can significantly impact your buy box performance and lead to more sales.

  6. Be Patient: Sales history also plays a role in winning the buy box. As a newer seller, it's natural to have fewer sales, but don't lose hope. Over time, as you accumulate more sales and build trust with Amazon, your buy box eligibility will improve. Think of it as a trustworthiness score that rewards sellers with a solid sales history. Stay consistent, and your sales will gradually increase.

By checking off these six essential aspects, you'll enhance your chances of maximizing sales on Amazon. Remember, success on Amazon takes time and persistence. Keep refining your strategies, adapting to changes, and always strive for excellence. I'm confident that by implementing these tips, your Amazon business will thrive. Good luck and happy selling!
